We have a driveway, flat building surface, and water!

Oh, the little things in life - like a driveway into your property. We have been trudging over hill a dale, literally, to get to our little campsite 300 yards into our property. Now consider that - 3 football fields of brush, trees, fallen timber, hills and valleys to trudge through every time you want to go anywhere. We have been storing our food in our cars because, of course, there are bears in the area and I'm not about to be anyone's lunch! Now that we have a driveway in, we can actually DRIVE to our campsite! Oh, the joy!

The kid who plowed in the drive also leveled out the ridge where we're going to build our home, so we can get trucks in there with equipment to dig out and pour the foundation.

Most importantly, we have WATER!!! Our well was dug yesterday. We had to go down 80 feet to hit water, but from what we've heard, anything less than 100 feet here is a blessing, so we are feeling really good about that. The weather has been good, none of that pesky rain we saw our first few days here, but boy is it hot! Much hotter here than in Wasilla.

I only have a few minutes here at the local library to update this, so I'll let the pictures tell the rest of the story. After we leave here, Tony and I are going to get our new drivers licenses and then talk concrete with "a guy." Woot!

I will have to post more pictures later - sorry! I'm at the local library and the internet keeps going down right in the middle of my uploads!
